ACKMA Cave Monitoring project - It was decided
that the closure of tour caves in Australia and New Zealand in March
2020 due to Covid 19 was an excellent opportunity to see what
temperature/ humidity conditions would be without human visitation
. The monitoring is being continued as tours resume and we
now have some comparitive results. Andy Baker's presentation for
the recent BCRA Cave Science Symposium is here on Youtube.
Cave
Animal of the Year - A relatively new concept featuring
small cave dwellers - this year is the Cave Cricket which is

Skymaps - Download
the current map of the Southern Hemisphere night sky. We suggest
you print the current map to A3 size to be readable. Print as
poster on 2 A4s, cut and join. If you can laminate, even better.
Also get some red cellophane to put over your torch, and rubber
bands to secure it. When you are camping, you can use this chart
to look at the night sky and identify stars and constellations.
By using torch with re cellophane you will not destroy your night
vision.
